Our New Naming Conventions: Clearer Language, Deeper Meaning
At The Well, everything we do flows from a deep sense of purpose. As we continue to grow as both a coffeehouse and a specialty coffee roaster, we’re excited to share a new chapter in our story, one that brings more clarity, creativity, and meaning to the way we name our coffees.
Honoring Coffee’s Origin, Seasonality, and Story
For years, we’ve used the term “single origin” to describe our limited offerings. But after traveling to origin and connecting directly with producers, we realized that this language doesn’t always do justice to the nuance and quality of the coffees we buy. A single origin label can group together a wide range of profiles, even within the same region.
Moving forward, we’ll be highlighting Limited Time Offerings instead. These coffees will still reflect distinct farms and regions, but now with a name that better honors the seasonal, handcrafted, and small-batch nature of these offerings. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to transparency, traceability, and respect for the craft.
Introducing: Our New Blend Names
We’re also unveiling new names for our year-round blends, inspired by the flow of water and the collective power of community - both core to our identity.
-
WATERSHED (formerly Tico): A light roast that marks moments of transformation. A watershed is land that channels rainfall into a shared source, just as this blend represents the spark of impact.
-
CONFLUENCE (formerly Blue Note): Our medium roast that celebrates unity. A confluence is where two or more bodies of water meet, symbolizing collaboration and strength in togetherness.
-
TRIBUTARY (formerly Bochica): A dark roast that honors every contribution. Tributaries feed into larger rivers, just as every action, big or small, fuels lasting change.
We’re eager for our guests to experience these new names and see the beauty and intention behind them..
Why It Matters
This rebrand is more than a facelift. It’s our way of inviting you deeper into the story - of the coffee, the people who grow it, and the lives changed through clean water. Whether you’re sipping in-store or brewing at home, you’re part of something bigger.
Together, we’re turning coffee into water. And now, our names tell that story even more clearly.
